Pathways to entrepreneurship: From creative skills to sustainable businesses

Projekti eesmärk

Project aim is to promote entrepreneurship among people aged 50+ in the Latgale region in Latvia and South-East Estonia by helping participants gradually develop their creative hobbies into sustainable entrepreneurial ideas. The project will provide participants with practical knowledge in entrepreneurship, digital tools, marketing, pricing, sustainability and online sales, as well as mentoring and cross-border peer learning opportunities.

The project is aimed at people aged 50+ living in rural areas in Latgale and South-East Estonia whose current creative activities — such as handicrafts, crafts, design, textile work, woodwork, ceramics or other creative product-making — are still at hobby level. The project will help them acquire knowledge and practical steps to develop this hobby into an income-generating opportunity.

To achieve its aim, the project will implement the following activities:

  1. Develop a joint 12-week multilingual entrepreneurship training programme, Creative EnterPath, with pre-recorded learning modules in English, Latvian and Estonian.
  2. Select participants in Latvia and Estonia, involving 80 people aged 50+ in total — 40 participants from Latgale and 40 participants from South-East Estonia.
  3. Implement two Creative EnterPath training cohorts, each involving 40 participants and offering training in business basics, branding, pricing, digital marketing, customer relations, sustainability and online sales opportunities.
  4. Organise mentoring and cross-border peer learning in mixed Latvian and Estonian participant groups, enabling participants to develop business ideas, test pricing strategies and prepare for their first sales steps.
  5. Involve at least four international guest speakers — creative entrepreneurs who will share their experience of moving from a hobby to entrepreneurship.
  6. Organise face-to-face opening and closing events in Latvia and Estonia to support participant networking, exchange of experience and recognition of achievements.
  7. Select and promote the 20 most promising entrepreneurial results developed by participants by professionally photographing, describing and promoting them online and through travelling exhibitions in Latvia and Estonia.
Project results

As a result of the project, 80 people aged 50+ from Latvia and Estonia will take part in Creative EnterPath cross-border training, mentoring and peer learning activities. Participants will improve their entrepreneurship, digital sales, marketing and sustainable business skills, and will develop their business models, product ideas or market-ready creative concepts.

The 20 most promising entrepreneurial results will be professionally documented and promoted online, as well as through travelling exhibitions in Latvia and Estonia. These examples will show how creative skills, practical knowledge and simple digital tools can help people create new income opportunities in their communities.

Expected additional results may include any or all of the following:

  1. the launch of new self-employment or other entrepreneurial ideas;
  2. the development of participants’ first products, services or business models;
  3. the first customer contacts and sales opportunities beyond participants’ immediate local communities;
  4. the development of digital marketing, pricing and online sales skills;
  5. strengthened participant confidence and entrepreneurial mindset.
Target group

People aged 50+ from the Latgale region in Latvia and South-East Estonia whose current creative activities — such as handicrafts, crafts, design or other creative product-making — are still hobbies, but who would like to acquire knowledge and practical steps to develop this hobby into an income-generating opportunity.
